According to Sports Magazine 247, the Chinese automaker BYD recently released a video demonstrating its ability to control the vehicle in the event of a tire failure at high speed.

The video was shared in China by Zhang Zhuo, General Manager of BYD's Ocean product line. In the test, the Seagull accelerated to 140 km/h on a straight road. Then, a pre-installed specialized device created multiple punctures in the front right tire, causing the pressure to drop rapidly.

Despite one wheel losing almost all pressure, the Seagull maintained its course and decelerated safely, without veering off course.

This result is noteworthy because technologies for controlling tire blowouts at high speeds have previously only been found on expensive electric or plug-in hybrid vehicles in China.

In addition to its ability to monitor for tire problems, the second-generation Seagull also offers an optional God's Eye DiPilot 300 driver assistance system using LiDAR sensors.

This technology supports automatic parking and the Navigate on Autopilot (NOA) feature, allowing vehicles to navigate autonomously on urban roads and highways in China under the supervision of the driver.

In terms of dimensions, the new BYD Seagull measures 4,205 x 1,810 x 1,570 mm (length x width x height), with a wheelbase of 2,650 mm. Compared to its predecessor, the overall length has increased by 425 mm.
