MANILA, Philippines — “Crazy Rich Asians” is set to introduce new faces to the world of Singapore’s wealthy elite as HBO opens a global casting call for two roles in the upcoming series sequel to the hit 2018 film.

In an announcement shared by author Kevin Kwan on Facebook, HBO and Firefly Casting are searching for Asian actors to portray Posy and William, two characters set to appear in the highly anticipated series.

Posy is described as a beautiful, glamorous and ambitious East Asian woman in her 30s. A former socialite whose marriage to a notorious tycoon has fallen apart, she is characterized as flamboyant, unapologetic and driven by her appetite for wealth, status and attention.

Applicants for the role must be fluent in English and familiar with Mandarin.

Meanwhile, William is described as a charismatic and wealthy Chinese man in his 20s, the son of a Shanghai real estate billionaire. Despite his thrill-seeking personality and mischievous streak, he is also portrayed as warm-hearted and eager to form genuine connections.

Applicants for his role must be fluent in English and conversational in Mandarin.

The casting call is accepting submissions until Nov. 30, 2026. The announcement also clarified that there is no fee to audition and that applicants are not required to memorize lines ahead of their interview or audition.

The upcoming eight-episode series will expand the world introduced in Kwan’s bestselling 2013 novel, which was adapted into the hit 2018 romantic comedy starring Constance Wu and Henry Golding.

Several original cast members are returning for the next installment, including Wu, Golding and Ronny Chieng, who will reprise their respective roles. Michelle Yeoh will also return in a recurring role.

While HBO has yet to reveal specific plot details, the series is expected to draw from Kwan’s bestselling trilogy, which also includes “China Rich Girlfriend” and “Rich People Problems
